Position Objective A housekeeping supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing/organizing the work or activities of cleaning services for Happy Valley Hotel. Your job description entails making sure that cleaning services are carried out in a professional manner and efficiently too. You also investigate complaints by clients regarding housekeeping issues/matters. |
Key Responsibilities and Weights: Operational Oversight Arrive at work 30 minutes before the shift to prepare. Assign duties to cleaning staff and inspect their work for standards compliance. Check and inspect rooms for cleanliness. Ensure all laundry machines are functioning and report any issues. Conduct daily briefings for staff about hotel functions and activities. Coordinate work activities among departments. Conduct orientation and in-service training for housekeeping policies and procedures. Staff Management and Development Train new staff and explain new procedures and policies. Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping services and implement corrective actions. Screen job applicants, hire new employees, and manage staff performance. Address and resolve staff issues. Develop clear standards and procedures for housekeeping staff. Quality Control and Reporting Communicate with customers to gather feedback on services received. Submit all housekeeping reports before deadlines. Perform regular inspections of all areas, ensuring cleanliness and addressing any maintenance needs. Conduct monthly stock counts and prepare inventory reports. Ensure lost property procedures are followed, and guest valuables are secured. Inventory and Budget Management Control housekeeping budget and prepare reports concerning room occupancy, payroll, and department expenses. Ensure adequate supplies by checking stock and organizing inventory according to expiration dates. Issue supplies and equipment to workers and ensure documentation is maintained. Health and Safety Compliance Report health hazards to maintenance and ensure timely resolution. Ensure that all machines used in laundry and cleaning are properly serviced and maintained. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all housekeeping operations. |
Experience and Qualifications: High school diploma, preferred. Previous guest service and/or housekeeping experience. Experience using industrial cleaning equipment and products. Flexible working hours. Ability to work with little without supervision. Physical mobility and stamina. 5 years’ experience as a cleaner O Level or Form 5 certificate. Knowledge: Knowledge of cleaning procedures, techniques, and products. Familiarity with hotel management systems and housekeeping standards. Awareness of hygiene, safety regulations and health codes relevant to housekeeping operations.
